Where do I start?
Follow the “Getting started” tutorial on the Club page: get to know your squad, pick your line-up, plan training, set your bar prices, hire your staff, send a scout on a mission, then click “Continue”. Hidden it? You can bring it back in My account → Profile.
What does the “Continue” button do?
It moves time forward day by day until the next event: training, matchday, something happening at the club or a decision to make (a week at most). On matchday, you choose between “Play and watch” to follow it live and “Instant result” to get the score straight away.
How many “Continue”s do I get per day?
There’s a daily limit: the counter next to the button shows how many you have left today. They come back at midnight (Belgian time). Once today’s are used up, the ones in your reserve take over.
How do I get more “Continue”s?
Complete this week’s challenges, invite friends (referrals) or visit the Shop: reserve “Continue”s that never expire, or a Chairman’s Pass that gives you more every day while it lasts.
How does a season work?
Your series has 14 clubs and 26 league matchdays, played on Sundays. Before matchday 1, you get about four weeks of pre-season, ideal for arranging friendlies. The Belgian Cup is played on Wednesdays.
A decision is waiting in my inbox. What happens if I don’t reply?
Every decision has a deadline shown in your inbox. If you haven’t replied by then, the committee decides for you, and it won’t necessarily be the choice you’d have made.
Where can I see what’s new in the game?
After each update, a “What’s new?” card appears at the top of the Club page. You’ll find all the updates in More → What’s new.
Do I get anything for playing every day?
Yes: every consecutive day on the game counts. On day 3 you get 2 “Continue”s, on days 7 and 14 you get 5, on day 30 you get 10, then 10 every 30 days. Miss a day and the streak starts again.
How do I pick my line-up?
Go to Squad → Line-up. Tap a player, then a spot on the pitch (or drag them there); the green, yellow or red circle tells you whether they’re comfortable in that position. You can also use “Auto line-up”, and don’t forget “Save line-up”.
A starter isn’t available on matchday. Is that a problem?
No: an unavailable player is automatically replaced by the best available player in the same position. “Doubtful” players have a 50/50 chance of turning up. Many of your players have day jobs, so they’re not always around.
How does training work?
In Squad → Training, tick up to 4 evenings a week and choose a focus for each session. More sessions means more progress, but also more fatigue and more absences. Tactical sessions build up understanding.
How do youngsters work?
Every summer, a new crop joins the youth academy (Squad → Youth); a better academy attracts more of them. Promote the best ones to the first team before they pass the age limit (19, or 21 with an academy), or they’ll leave the club.
How do I sign a player?
In Squad → Signings: sign a free agent (a signing-on fee, then his match expenses), or make a transfer or loan offer to another club from the player’s profile. The club replies within two days, and everything comes out of the transfer budget set by the committee. Your first team has 14 to 25 players.
What are staff for?
Assistant coach, physio, scout… each staff member improves one area of the club. Modest profiles are volunteers; the best ones ask for weekly expenses. The candidates change every four weeks (Squad → Staff).
When can I buy players?
Players from other clubs can be bought or loaned during the transfer window: between seasons (from the end of the season until two weeks after matchday 1) and throughout January. Free agents sign all year round. In the final days, offers for your best players pile up.
My player is injured, can I bring him back early?
On his profile, “Rush him back” makes him available straight away for minor injuries. But he stays fragile for two more weeks: the injury risk is tripled, and a relapse lasts longer. The physio, the club doctor and the first-aid kit shorten absences.
What’s the captain for?
A captain with authority helps the whole team during matches and brings the dressing room together. Pick him in Squad → Dressing room: a real leader reassures the group, a surprising choice raises eyebrows. The dressing room also shows the groups (newcomers, old guard, youngsters, core) and their morale.
What happens if I break a promise?
The player loses a lot of morale, becomes less loyal and may ask to leave, and the whole dressing room sees it. A promise kept, on the other hand, ties him to the club. You can promise playing time, not to sell him, or promotion (to the ambitious ones).
Are my players called up for international duty?
During international breaks (September, October, November and late March), the best players spend a few days with the national team, the U21s or the U19s. The club receives a fee from the FA and gains reputation, but they miss that week’s matches and come back a little tired.
How do I follow a match live?
On matchday, click “Play and watch”: the match plays out at high speed, minute by minute. You can click “Skip to the end” at any time. With “Instant result”, the match is played straight away.
Can I change tactics during the match?
Yes. During the live match you can change your approach (attack, balanced, defend) and team instructions (pressing, tempo, width), then apply them. You can make up to 5 substitutions.
What if I don’t watch the match?
In Squad → Line-up, tick “Automatic substitutions”: changes will be made in the 60th, 70th and 80th minute if you’re not around. Remember to pick your penalty, free-kick and corner takers too.
What’s the pre-match team talk?
Before the match, you choose what to tell the squad: “Stay calm”, “Encourage” or “Demand the best” (on the Line-up page, for example). It’s given at kick-off, and your assistant offers some advice.
And the half-time team talk?
If you’re watching the match live, you have a few seconds at the break to choose: “Keep a cool head”, “Believe” or “Hairdryer treatment”. Once the second half has started, it’s too late.
Why do some players start with less fitness?
Two matches in under three days takes its toll: those who played the previous match start with 8 fitness points fewer. The line-up flags them. Remember to rotate when the cup comes on top of the league.
What are VAR and “homer” referees?
Every referee has a reputation: strict, lets play go on, quick with cards, unpredictable, or known to favour the home side. You come across the same ones again and your record with each is shown before the match. In the First Division A, VAR checks some goals: no more linesman errors, but goals disallowed for real.
How do I make money?
Gate receipts and the bar on home matchdays, sponsors, the club shop, season tickets, events (meatball supper, pétanque tournament…) and player sales. Set your prices in Bar: too expensive and the regulars come less often; too cheap and you lose margin.
How does the club shop work?
In Bar → Club shop, you order stock from the supplier (delivered in 4 days), set your prices and sell mostly on home matchdays, plus a bit online every week. Careful: stock sitting on the shelves is money tied up.
How do I find sponsors?
Local businesses get in touch via your inbox, and you reply to them in Bar → Sponsors. For the shirt, three companies make offers: compare them and negotiate each one once, but the more you ask for, the more likely they’ll go elsewhere.
Where can I see my accounts in detail?
In Bar → Accounts: income, spending and balance by week (with the last 8 weeks), by season, and the financial summary of every match.
My finances are in the red. What should I do?
Negative accounts worry the committee and the supporters. You can borrow from the Bank (Bar page) and pay it back every week. Higher up, accounts in the red at the end of the season can cost you promotion or points.
Is insurance worth it?
Setbacks are rare (storm, flood, theft, fire in the clubhouse bar, graffiti) but expensive. Basic insurance pays back half, comprehensive cover 90 %, in exchange for a weekly premium. Choose it in Ground → Club insurance.
How do I keep my sponsors?
Every sponsor has a mood: wins, promotion and happy supporters please him, hammerings and relegation annoy him. If he’s happy at the end of his contract, he offers to extend. Sometimes he asks for a VIP evening. And a small local business can go bust.
How do I upgrade my facilities?
On the Ground page, click a facility, then “Upgrade”. There’s only one project at a time, and the work progresses with each game day. Some facilities need you to buy plots of land first.
Why do my facilities matter for promotion?
To go up, you need a licence: even as champions, you stay in your division if your facilities aren’t up to the required standard. What you’re missing is shown on the Ground page and the Table page.
How do I look after the pitch?
In Ground → Pitch: every home match wears it down, more so in rain or snow. Choose better maintenance so it grows back faster, or do some reseeding. A damaged pitch increases the risk of injury at home.
Can I sell my stadium’s name?
Yes, from the First Division B: brands make you offers in Ground → Stadium name. The deal pays out at every home league match, but signing annoys the supporters a little. You can give the stadium its name back by paying compensation.
How do I get more advertising boards?
The number of boards around the pitch is limited: 2 to start with, then 4, 6, 9 and up to 12 as you build the “Advertising boards” facility (Stadium tab). Each level needs a big enough stand: you don’t put twelve boards around a pitch with no stand. Every free space attracts a local business, and the higher the club climbs, the bigger the sponsors.
What’s the museum for?
The club museum draws visitors every week, all the more so when the club has trophies, retired shirts and honours to show off. It also brings in a bit of reputation.
What does the committee do?
Every season, the committee sets an objective and a budget (transfers and expenses). Stick to them and its confidence rises, with a bonus at the end of the season; miss the objective and next season’s budget will be cut. Keep track of it all in Bar → Committee.
Can I be sacked?
Only in the First Division B and the First Division A, where the committee is more demanding. If its confidence drops to zero and you’re far from the objective, it sacks you: three clubs in your series then offer you a job, and you have to choose one in your inbox before you can carry on. Careful: your debts follow you to your new club.
How do promotion and relegation work?
The series champions go up, provided their facilities are in order (and, from Division 3, their accounts are positive). The bottom two go down, except in Provincial 4. Management changes as you go up: it’s all explained in More → Club status.
What’s my chairman’s reputation?
You can follow your career in More → My career. Good league finishes, promotions, titles and cups boost your reputation; relegation or the sack lowers it. With a strong reputation, bigger clubs in your series may offer you the chance to run them, at the end of the season or in winter.
How does the Belgian Cup work?
32 clubs, straight knockout, matches on Wednesdays; the club from the lower division plays at home and, if it’s level, it goes to penalties. Every round you get through earns a bonus. The draw is in More → Belgian Cup.
How do I play in the European Cup?
Finish in the top 3 of the First Division A and you qualify for the following season. Sixteen clubs, straight knockout on Thursdays, a big participation bonus and then a bonus for every round you get through.
What are career goals?
In More → Career goals: eleven big goals (titles, promotions, cups, Europe, loyalty, supporters, ground…) across four tiers, from bronze to legend. They follow you from club to club, and every tier earns you “Continue”s and a medal shown on your public profile.
Can I start again with another club?
Yes, from your second season: Your career → New adventure. Choose a scenario (classic, bankruptcy, youth club, impatient benefactor, fallen giant). If one of your clubs has reached the First Division B, it’s legend mode: you start again with a bonus. Your reputation, skills and “Continue”s remain.
What are skills for?
Each chairman level gives two points to assign: negotiator (fees and sponsors), builder (works), mentor (youngsters), orator (committee) and administrator (staff). Three levels per skill, and it’s permanent.
How do this week’s challenges work?
Every Monday, three new challenges (easy, medium, hard) are waiting for you in More → This week’s challenges. Complete them before Sunday night to earn 2, 3 or 5 “Continue”s, plus a bonus of 5 if you complete all three. They progress on their own during your competitive matches (not friendlies).
What are special challenges?
During special periods (Christmas, carnival, summer, Halloween), a fourth, harder challenge appears, worth 8 “Continue”s. You can also hold a seasonal party at the club, and some items sell better in the shop.
How do I invite friends?
In More → Invite friends, you’ll find your link and your code. When your friend signs up with your link, confirms their email address and plays their first matchdays, you both get “Continue”s in your reserve. Two accounts created from the same connection don’t count.
How do I play with my friends?
In More → Friends’ leagues, create a league and send the code to your friends. Everyone plays their own league, and you compare your clubs in a shared table. A league holds up to 30 chairmen, and you can be in 5 leagues.
How is the chairmen’s ranking calculated?
In More → Chairmen’s rankings, the score takes into account points, promotions, titles, cups, Europe, achievements and the highest level reached. Other tabs rank the climb, finances, supporters and loyalty.
How do I share my club’s profile?
Your public profile shows your username, your club, your trophies, your seasons and your top scorers, never your email. It’s off by default: turn it on in My account → Profile so you can share it.
How do I buy a player from another chairman?
On the chairmen’s market, during your transfer window. To sell, open a player’s profile: “Sell to another chairman”. The price is capped, and the market opens after a few days of play on your account. The player leaves the seller’s universe and joins yours.
Can I play against another chairman?
Yes, in an exhibition friendly: invite a club from Chairmen’s friendlies (or from its public profile). The match is played as soon as he accepts, with no fatigue, no injuries and no gate receipts. The result appears in the chairmen’s gazette.
Do I have to pay to play?
No, the game is completely free. The Shop is optional: it lets you move faster or give your club a boost, and every purchase helps keep FootballDay going.
What can I buy?
Reserve “Continue”s (they never expire), a Chairman’s Pass (extra “Continue”s every day while it lasts), a benefactor who puts money into the club’s coffers, or boosts (fully fit, morale, training camp…). Prices are shown in the Shop, in euros, VAT included.
Who can buy, and how do I pay?
Purchases are only for players aged 18 and over: first enter your date of birth in My account. Payment is secured by Mollie (Bancontact, card, etc.) and your purchase is credited as soon as the payment is confirmed; a message will be waiting in your inbox.
Where can I find my receipt?
In the Shop, under “My purchases”: click “Receipt” next to the purchase. You can print it or save it as a PDF.
Why do I have to waive my right of withdrawal?
Your purchases are digital content delivered straight away in the game. By ticking the box before paying, you ask for this immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal.
Can I get a refund?
“Continue”s, money and in-game boosts have no real-world value: they can’t be refunded or exchanged. If a purchase wasn’t delivered properly, write to us via the Contact page: we’ll fix it or refund it. If we refund you, whatever was credited is taken back.
How do I change language?
In My account → Profile, or with the language menu at the top of the screen. The game is available in French, Dutch, German and English.
How do I choose which emails I get?
In My account → Notifications, you choose whether you want reminders when you’re away and FootballDay news. Important emails (confirmation, password, support replies) always get through.
How do I turn on notifications?
In My account → Notifications, click “Turn on for this device”. You’ll get a short reminder when your “Continue”s have recharged or a decision is waiting. On iPhone and iPad, add the app to your home screen first.
I’ve forgotten my password. What should I do?
On the sign-in page, click “Forgotten your password?” and enter your email address: you’ll get a link that’s valid for one hour. To change it while you’re signed in, go to My account → Security.
I played on someone else’s computer. How do I sign out?
In My account → Security, you can see the devices where you ticked “Stay signed in”. You can forget one, or click “Sign out all other devices”.
How do I get a copy of my data?
In My account → Data, click “Download my data”: you’ll get all the data linked to your account in JSON format.
How do I delete my account?
In My account → Data, tick the confirmation box, enter your password and click “Delete permanently”. Your account, your club and your purchased perks are erased for good; only the accounting records for purchases are kept for as long as the law requires.
I’ve found a bug. How do I report it?
Open your account menu and click “Report a bug”: the page you were on is filled in automatically. Explain what happened, what you were doing just before and what you expected.
How do I contact the team?
Use the Contact page for a question, an account or purchase problem, or an idea. We’ll reply by email.
The game is slow or “Continue” isn’t responding.
If you see “Time is already moving on”, wait a moment and try again. A live match lasts about two minutes: “Skip to the end” or “Instant result” are quicker. If the problem persists, let us know with “Report a bug”.
I haven’t received the confirmation email.
Check your spam folder. On the confirmation page, click “Resend the email” (the old link will no longer work), or “Fix it and resend” if the address was wrong. You can’t play until your address is confirmed.
Didn’t find your answer? Write to us via the Contact page: we’ll reply by email.
